Herndon Virginia Launches New Website That Reflects the Local Community

Described as a “Next Generation Small Town” in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, the Town of Herndon is home to 23,000 residents. Herndon was incorporated in 1879 and they just launched their new Vision website.

While there were several goals for the project, ensuring the creation of a design that reflected the community as focused, open and caring was a top priority. The homepage features large, colorful buttons that guide visitors to the site’s top content. Two action-oriented menus (I Want To… and I Am…) make key information easy to find, even for those who are not familiar with the internal organizational structure of the town.

The before and after pictures of the website clearly demonstrate that the team's goals were met and key information is much easier to find:

For Public Information Officer, Anne Curtis, working with the Vision team was key to their successful project.

"Vision worked with our internal team to create, design and implement a new site that hits all of our key objectives: it’s intuitive for the end user, the CMS is straightforward and easy to use – and the site looks terrific! We are extremely pleased with our new website and would recommend Vision to government agencies seeking a fresh, user-friendly approach to online government access."
